It is possible to experience happiness – positive feelings and moments – during the darkest of times. Not to be confused with an artificial pretense of glee, this deeper, more meaningful happiness depends on making deliberate efforts to grow and become more resilient in hard times.  Realistic, meaningful happiness is possible when we allow ourselves to feel our painful emotions, then remember what matters most to us and act on it. We can reach out to others, practice self-care activities that meet our unique needs, treasure fond memories, and find pleasure in everyday positive moments – including the powerful uplift of listening to music we love
